Munich to Tyrol, Austria

May 29, 2012

Today we got up early and headed for Tyrol, Austria.  I was nervous about today because we were going white water rafting.  The water was FREEZING.  We had to wear wet suits, but I honestly do not know if that helped.  The water was around 42 degrees.  The snow that melts off the mountain is what feeds this river.  We had to get in and out of the boat so our bodies wouldn't go into shock if we flipped over.

Check out this awesome outfit.

Here is what Austria is known for:  forestry, alpine, and tourism.  Most individuals know about Vienna which is the cultural capital or the Sounds of Music city.  Austria hates that they are only known for the Sound of Music. There are lots of winter sports and they love sweets. They even like chocolate in their main dish.

After white water rafting we had a quick lunch at a beach café before heading to the crystal museum, Swarovski.  This was a pretty weird museum, but there was a ton of crystal.  There were pants that were dancing around, images of people screaming, and jellyfish to name a few.

That evening we headed to another small town where there was a Schnapps happy hour followed by pool at the Silver Bullet (the big pub in town—which was dead).  I was starving so I went next door for some pizza bread for 5 Euro and it was probably the best bread I had all trip.
