I have never participated in an obstacle course race so when I saw the flyer for the City Mayhem, Keith and I signed up instantly. We headed out to Soulard early on Saturday morning for the 4 mile course. The first mile was crowded since they didn't have different start times, but after the climb over the school bus the race finally spread out. Yes, you read that correctly. We had to use ropes to climb over a school bus and down the other side. Other obstacles included running the arch steps, pulling a 100 pound chain, carrying an individual who was in a stretcher, making basketball shots, and climbing a rock wall to name a few. There were 16 obstacles in the four mile track. Finish time: 1 hour and 1 minute!
Sorry no pictures to post as we were running!

Windy City
April 16-18, 2012
This week I had a training in Chicago, IL for work. We haven't been traveling that much lately, so it was great to be able to see some of my friends that it has been six months since last meeting. This was the first time flying into Chicago by myself and taking the "L". I was a little nervous, but I made it downtown.
Monday I got to have dinner with a few of my friends at Harry Carry's. I showed up with a dress and sandals on, so I was a bit out of place. It is still COLD in Chicago, but I guess that is why they call it the "Windy City". The hotel is amazing as I overlooked Chicago on the 14th floor. We got to stay at the Sax Chicago which was very high class.
Tuesday night the training group headed to Rock It Bar and Grill for dinner. It was a very fast trip, but one that was fun!

Half Marathon Weekend
April 14-15, 2012
Last year I swore I would never do the St. Louis "Go" marathon again, but somehow I ended up signing up again this year. This year I was so proud because I did ALL my training and thought I was prepared for this half marathon. Somehow the day of the race my body didn't want to work as it did all of practice and I was bummed. I thought last year couldn't get worse, but it did by 4 minutes.
My parents came over late on Friday night and we had the chance to go to the Expo and to lunch with Keith. Keith also ran and had a great time under 1 hour 40 minutes! One hour later I'm finally arriving at the finish line and I couldn't wait to see my family!
I think the "Go" marathon has my number. Maybe I should find something else to do or at least a different half marathon. Running is overrated if you train that hard and finish that bad. We will see when I get back on the "horse" of half marathons.
Here are the pictures of the Expo.

Easter Weekend
April 6-8, 2012
This year I went back to St. Joe to visit the entire family for Easter. I left early on Friday afternoon, stopping in Columbia for a quick lunch with Zack before making it back to St. Joe right in time for Jordan's graduation party. Chris, Rachel, and the boys were also heading back so it's always so much fun to be with them also.
Saturday Rachel and I woke up very early to go running in the rain--8 miles. It actually didn't seem to bad. That evening we celebrated birthday's. I got a great "30" card from the Andrews with picutres drawn by the boys. We gave Zack his present, Rachel opened hers, and finally my dad rounded out the birthday party.
On Sunday, we got up bright and early and headed to a quick church service. Quick for Grace...wow...1 hour! We headed home for a great lunch before our Easter basket hunt. We found them this year in the clubhouse filled with fruits, chocolate bunnies, and a pair of Nike's! Thanks Easter Bunny! It's always sad to leave and even worse driving. In the end, it was all worth it! How much fun we always have all together
