Leaving on A Jet Plane

May 24th, 2012

The much awaited trip was finally here.  My best friend Lauren and I decided to celebrate our 30th birthday by going to Europe.  I have always dreamed of going to Europe and the time has finally came.

Everyone was more nervous for Lauren and I then we were.  We were just going with the flow!  About 3 weeks prior to us leaving and an anxiously interested parents/boyfriend we finally called the travel agency to find out what cities we were visiting.  After that request came several more questions, "Can you call back and find out the hotels with addresses and phone numbers you are going to be at?" "What about your diet?"  By a miracle everyone felt safe about our travel decision and it was time to go.  We did appreciate all the prayers as this was a trip of a lifetime with better than usual weather and no "oh crap" moments like getting pick pocketed.

Lauren and I knew we wanted to visit London, Rome, and Paris so we googled trips and found contiki with the help of Amanda.  This was a travel group for 18-35 years old.  Perfect!

Lauren and I met up with each other in Chicago O'Hara with no delays.  We headed into the airplane and instantly couldn't believe the massive size of this airplane.  Each set had it's own TV with selections of movies, games, and music.  Each seat had a blanket and pillow and we sat ourselves down for an 8 hour flight to London, England.  We had 2 meals served, dinner and breakfast.  I did get a few hours (maybe 3 1/2 hours at tops) because heading into London we would arrive at 8 AM needing to be ready for the day!

Just like that, we were there and ready to start this amazing 2 week whirlwind adventure.
