A View From the Field

Wednesday, September 7. 2011

Tonight the University of Phoenix had the opportunity to have an alumni event at Busch stadium.  As you can imagine, the tickets for the event instantly sold out.  People were begging to attend to the game and all the fun festivities we had planned.  St. Louisan's love their baseball!  Along with our game day package, we had a few field passes that we could go onto the field and watch batting practice.  I was lucky enough to be selected!  First, this makes for a very long baseball game, but it was worth it in the end.   There were talks about having something to sign so the players could autograph, so after stopping at Target and not finding any baseballs I arrived at the stadium store to by a baseball.  Then again, what am I going to do with a baseball so I now needed two baseballs for my two nephews.  They would probably love these one day.  Arriving at the stadium at 4:30, we were escorted down to the field for views like below.  We missed most of the Cardinals practice, but got to watch the Brewers entire batting practice.  Good thing I took the extra time to find my baseballs...not one autograph.  Oh well!

After batting practice, we went to the alumni event where we ate dinner and soalized with all of the alumni.  Several employees got to attend the event, so it was great seeing everyone!

After already being at the stadium for 2 1/2 hours it was finally time for the game to start.  The Cardinals did end up winning 2-0.  There was actually a brawl that broke out in the 9th inning that cleared both benches.  It was a wonderful night to be outside and an opportunity most people in St. Louis would die to have!

  1. So thoughtful of you! I'm pretty sure those nephews would have LOVED Cardinals' signed baseballs. You know, B's Card's hat is his "fancy" hat! Looks like you had fun!
