Labor Day Weekend

This past weekend was Labor Day and I got to enjoy the extended vacation by being with my Dad and Mom in St. Joseph.  I actually had to work in Kansas City Tuesday-Thursday for training, so it seems I haven't been in St. Louis at all.  My boss took me to Kansas City on Tuesday morning, so I worked out a deal with my Mom and Grandma to bring me a car so I could visit some friends and travel back home.  I also worked out a deal with my boss to let me work from Kansas City on Friday so I could stay home on the extended weekend.

Tuesday night my co-workers and I visited Jack Stack for some tasty BBQ.  Since I don't eat meat anymore, I still couldn't resist the sauce so I found BBQ sauce was very tasty on baked potatoes!  On Wednesday, my Mom picked me up and we made a quick stop at Macy's.  The quick stop didn't go so quick when you find a shoe sale and 13 pairs later you are leaving!  Before you judge, we saved over $600.  We ate dinner on the Plaza at the Cheesecake factory and had so much fun!

Friday night I made my way back to St. Joe for a relaxing weekend.  It took me a few days to slow down, but by Monday I was a little sad to leave.  On Friday, we met up with some of my parents friends for ice cream at Cabana--I of course had a snow cone.  Then I met my friend Brad out at Norty's which was great since we haven't been able to catch up in quite sometime.

Saturday started off with the pool, but was cut short by the weather.  Saturday evening we headed to my favorite restaurant- 54th Street Bar and Grill.   Then we headed to the $2 theater and it was quite the experience.  We saw ZooKeeper and if you haven't seen it yet, go ahead and save your $2.  By the end of the experience I was surprised it was smoke free!  Here's what I learned with a $2 show---don't put your head on the seat, it's ok to have an out loud conversation during the show, if you know the song it's ok to sing along, and the best is don't look down!

Sunday we went to church in the morning, ate lunch with Tom and Judy at Olive Garden, and then my Dad, Tom, and I headed to the golf course.  You'll notice a different outfit since I only had my running clothes.  I had to borrow my brother's clubs and that's my excuse for hole 1.  I was so proud to show my dad my "skills" and that excitement quickly faded on the first hole.  I think I made a good comeback for the rest of the course.  After the golf course I headed over to Brad's house, but I think my camera took Labor Day off since I didn't take any pictures.

It was a different weekend since none of my siblings were home, but by Monday I finally got used to the quiet house.  Monday Mom and I ran over to Dillard's to not find that great of deals, but ended up with a few new outfits.  Then the big event of the weekend occurred.  Chick-fil-A had a free chicken sandwich for all visitors from 10:30-8 PM on Labor Day.  Who could miss out on this deal.  Brad met us at Chick-fil-A and barely got a table. I was told when something is FREE in St. Joe the whole town comes out and I believe it.  It was great getting to see so many people in one location.  Overall, it was a slow but much needed weekend.  It's always good to go home and feel spoiled.  Thanks Mom and Dad for the great weekend--it was all about ME!!
