Day 3: Play Ball

Or for the Mariners should we say finish as painlessly as possible.  I believe up to this point in the season the Mariners have the worst record in baseball and I understand how.  I love a good baseball game, but I'm not sure what was happening in this particular game.  Another goal is to someday visit all of the baseball stadiums and Safeco Field is now scratched off my list.  Games are a highlight of a trip for my family, but in this particular game the fans were more enjoyable then the actually game.  The Mariners played the Tampa Bay Rays who won the game 8-0 scoring all of the runs in the 2nd inning.  I lost count of how many pitcher changes they had, but I'm pretty sure they didn't make it through an inning with the same pitcher.  This made for some enjoyable people watching.

Let's start back at the beginning of the day.
Friday, July 29th

As mentioned above, my family loves to visit ball stadiums so we started the day off with a tour of Safeco Field.  The most amazing part of the stadium is the retractable roof that has helped with never cancelling a game due to rain.  On the tour we visited the dugouts, field, press boxes, and diamond club to name a few places in the stadium.

I think we look professional

After our tour, we went to Pioneer Square where we ate lunch and headed to the Smith Tower.  When we were on the harbor cruise the tour guide pointed out this building that looked like a pencil.  He mentioned that on the top floor of this office building there is a Chinese Room where a wishing chair is located.  Legend states that if you sit in this chair within a year you'll be happily married.  My sister and I found it funny and were determined to visit this site.  I'm not sure how this really works since there are no good prospects, but you never know who you'll meet tomorrow! There was a special event that had to close the Smith Tower down, but we made it just in time to check out the chair and observation deck for free due to the event.

Here's a view from the observation deck.

After the tour we visited Chinatown, but didn't stay too long since we had to make it back to the game.  That started our mission, to scalp great tickets for a low price.  We didn't end up doing too bad.  We sat on the right field line only a few rows up from Iricho.

Another great day in Seattle and another stadium down!
